Heidi's Death

We learned of Heidi's April 4.2021 death 3 days later, because Deborah Jenkins hid it. She then filed an intervention in our divorce (I'd filed 2 weeks after Heidi absconded with Harlan to compel her return to safety). Four months later, Heidi's cause of death was determined: morphine intoxication, from unsecured medication in Deborah Jenkins home. Dr. Jonathan Arden, former Washington DC Chief Medical Examiner, evaluated the autopsy along with relevant background and concluded 1) the suspicious nature of Heidi's death warranted further investigation and 2) the circumstances of her death presented a clear danger to Harlan. Click here for his affidavit; he also testified to that in October, 2023 which JUdge Mangrum ignored just as she did with Austin Police Department, Texas Child Protective Service, Harlan's own therapist, Harlan's sister, Harlan's school principal, a recent visit supervisor, and other witnesses.

Until properly investigated, Heidi's death remains a mystery, and (chillingly) it was only her death which enabled this Kafkaeque horror. Like Harlan and I, she is a victim - in her case paying the ultimate price - but also irrefutably guilty of parental abduction and numerous other serious legal violations. Ironically, this horror was only enabled by HBFs desire NOT to prosecute her and his efforts to shield Harlan from her belligerent behavior and get Heidi the help she needed, and -- most critically -- shield both her and Harlan from the danger of Heidi's family.
